Motorways make many drivers nervous and newly passed drivers won't have driven on one and have yet to experience the pressures that the shear volume and speed of motorway traffic puts on them. Some drivers have held their licence for many years but have managed to ensure they don't use motorways.

Although we may not like, or are nervous of, motorway driving they are great for cutting travel time and enable long distances to be covered in a shorter period of time than non-motorway driving.
