Preparation for 1st Lesson
EYESIGHT
To be able to drive you must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5m. If you need corrective spectacles or contact lenses to be able to comply with this requirement then you must wear them EVERY time you drive.
Please make sure you have your glasses/lenses with you for EVERY driving lesson.
- We will check your eyesight at the beginning of your 1st lesson.
PROVISIONAL LICENCE
Please bring BOTH parts of your provisional driving licence with you to your 1st lesson
- Mike will take pertinent information from the licence for our records.
- We will check your provisional licence for authenticity and take details from it at the beginning of your 1st lesson.
THEORY TEST PASS CERTIFICATE
If you have already passed your theory test then please bring your pass certificate with you. We will take a note of your pass reference - this is needed when booking your test.
PLEASE NOTE: You must have passed your theory test before taking your practical test - Xpert Driver Training can assist in revising and preparing for your theory test - so don't worry if you haven't even thought of taking it yet!
- If relevant we will take a note of your theory test pass reference number.
FOOTWEAR
Please make sure you wear suitable footwear for EVERY driving lesson. This is not just for comfort but for safety too.
Avoid: heels, flip flops, mules, peep toes, sandals, etc
- If you are wearing unsuitable footwear the lesson will have to be cancelled and your lesson fee will be non-refundable.
CLOTHING
Wear comfortable clothing for your lessons. The Mini Cooper has heating and air conditioning - so no need to dress like an Eskimo or a lifeguard!
ALERT & READY
As a driver you need to start thinking ahead as you need to be alert and aware during your lesson.
- No big nights out the day before
- Don't drink too much alcohol - you can still be over the drink-drive limit the next day!
- Tell Mike if you're taking any medicines as some can make you drowsy and not safe to drive.
NERVES
Don't worry about nerves.
You'd be surprised how many pupils are nervous about learning to drive and terrified of their first lesson. Don't worry - just tell Mike how you're feeling and he will know exactly how to help.
LAW
You can still get penalty points before you pass your test - speeding for example.
So, come prepared: learn your Highway Code and be aware of your responsibilities as a driver.
CANCELLATION
We require 24 hours notice for cancellation of a lesson. If you cancel with shorter notice we reserve the right to still charge the agreed lesson fee for the cancelled lesson.
-
24 hr notice for cancellation of lesson without loss of lesson fee
